If you visit Universal Studios Hollywood during this time in winter, expect very bearable temperatures (49 °F – 69 °F in January and 50 °F – 68 °F in February.
This is a great time to visit for the best prices and cooler weather!
Just be aware that opening hours can be very limited at this time of year – closing as early at 6 PM!
This wouldn’t be so bad if the park opened early, but it could open as late as 10 AM.
Generally, opening hours will be a little better on weekends, but ticket prices are also more expensive.
Although the opening hours aren’t the best, crowds are typically on the lower side, so you could still have a productive time – especially considering that Universal Studios Hollywood is a small park (particularly when compared to Universal Orland Resort).
Early March, Late April (at least in 2026)& the Start of May:Â
Early March at Universal Studios Hollywood can look tempting, and yes, youâll spot 7 $109 one day ticket dates:
- Monday, 2nd March 2026
- Tuesday, 3rd March 2026
- Wednesday, 4th March 2026
- Thursday, 5th March 2026
- Tuesday, 10th March 2026
- Wednesday, 11th March 2026
- Thursday, 12th March 2026
But the start of spring break pushes most days higher and crowds follow. If youâre eyeing the cheapest window, skip the last two weeks of March.
Want to visit in April instead? Late April is the smarter play in 2026, since Easter lands early this year (April 5), and prices usually settle once the holiday rush and school breaks are over.
Of course, this will vary depending on when Easter falls each year, but late April is the best time to visit in 2026, if you’re on a budget.
Here are the $109 Universal ticket days in April 2026:
- Tuesday, 28th April 2026
- Wednesday, 29th April 2026
- Friday, 30th April 2026
Before summer break starts, earlier in May can be a great time to visit, with eight $109 ticket days:
- Tuesday, 5th May 2026
- Wednesday, 6th May 2026
- Thursday, 7th May 2026
- Monday, 11th May 2026
- Tuesday, 12th May 2026
- Wednesday, 13th May 2026
- Thursday, 14th May 2026
- Monday, 18th May 2026
These times in March, April and May are great for slightly warmer park days (which shouldn’t get too hot), with temperatures in the range of:
- March: 53 °F – 70 °F
- April: 55 °F – 73 °F
- May: 59 °F – 74 °F
Late August to early September: end-of-summer savings before Halloween
Right after most schools head back, weekday prices usually dip. It is short but golden.
Weather runs warm, often in the 80s, with bright afternoons and cooler evenings.
Generally, September is one of the better months for the best prices (2026 ticket for this time of year hasn’t been released yet, at the time of publishing this post).
If Halloween Horror Nights are on when you visit, be aware that this may lead to reduced daytime park hours. If you want to experience this event, you will need a separate ticket.
You will see some of the higher temperatures at this time of year:
August: 66 °F – 85 °F
September: 64 °F – 83 °F
Â
Early to mid-November & Early December
Once Halloween Horror Nights end, a calm settles over the park until Thanksgiving week.
Weekday crowds drop, prices follow, and the weather turns mild again.
Based on 2025 pricing, there’s plenty of $109 days at the start to half-way ish through November:
- Monday, 3rd November 2025
- Tuesday, 4th November 2025
- Wednesday, 5th November 2025
- Thursday, 6th November 2025
- Tuesday, 11th November 2025
- Wednesday, 12th November 2025
- Thursday, 13th November 2025
- Tuesday, 18th November 2025
- Wednesday, 19th November 2025
If you can avoid the week of Thanksgiving, you can usually find some reasonably good prices on Universal Studios Hollywood tickets.
Similarly, early December is a good time to visit Universal Studios California for great prices – as well as Christmas decorations and celebrations!
There are five $109 days in December 2025:
- Tuesday, 2nd December 2025
- Wednesday, 3rd December 2025
- Thursday, 4th December 2025
- Tuesday, 9th December 2025
- Wednesday, 10th December 2025
The last two and half weeks in December 2025 are when prices start to increase the closest you get to Christmas (with one-day prices reaching $154 consistently every day between December 19th and 31st).
Best days and times to go to Universal Studios HollywoodÂ
- Aim for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (or Monday or Friday, if mid-week is not possible). This is where the best prices usually live.
- Arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes before official opening.
- Want an extra hour at Universal before it officially opens. Consider booking SUPER NINTENDO WORLD Early Access Admission. This usually cost $20 – $30 + tax per person, and allows you to visit the newest land before the huge crowds arrive. When I booked this in December 2024, the rides at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter were also open during this time.

Dates to avoid that drive up price and crowds
These periods tend to push ticket prices higher and fill queues fast. If you can, try to visit a week earlier or later, or target midweek on the edges of these windows.
Spring Break (mid-March to mid-April)
School calendars fuel a demand surge. Ticket prices and waits jump.
To save, try to visit to the week before Spring Break starts or the week after it winds down.
You will likely pay less and see more.
Summer vacation (June through August)
Summer is long, hot, and can be crowded.
Prices run higher, and weekends are the worst of it (as usual).
If summer is your only option, aim for late August weekdays (ideally avoiding Halloween Horror Nights, unless youâre just visiting for this special-ticketed event).
You will miss some of the peak heat and more reasonable pricing right as schools resume.
Major holidays and long weekends
Holidays, Thanksgiving week, and Christmas to New Year, and long weekends due to holidays, can attract heavy demand. Prices follow suit.

If you can visit Tuesday through Thursday in nearby weeks and you will usually see lower rates and shorter waits.
Save the most money at Universal Studios California
Buy online and use the date-based calendar
Universal prices shift by date, and the cheapest days are almost always listed on the online calendar.
What to check when booking Universal tickets online:
- Third party sellers to see who is offering the best prices
- If you want more than one-day, itâs worth checking if you can get deals on 2 day tickets. When I visited last year, I managed to get a 2 day ticket for the price of 1 by doing my research!
Annual and season passes: when they pay off
Universal Season and Annual Passes are on the more reasonable side (especially when compared to Disneyland’s Magic Key options).
Here are the 4 Universal pass options (you may get $10 off these prices if you purchase them online, instead of at the Front Gate):
- California Neighbour Pass ($189 + with some blockout dates).
- Silver Annual Pass ($229 + tax with some blockout dates)
- Gold Annual Pass ($309 + tax with some blockout dates)
- Platinum Annual Pass $609 + tax with no blackout dates)
If you are visiting often enough, it can make perfect sense to opt for an Annual Pass.
Especially when you account for some of the perks you may get access to.
Decide if Express Pass is worth it
Express Pass starts at $189 + tax, per person, per day. So it’s hard to argue that it’s “budget-friendly”.
And the thing is: you may not need it.
When I visited on weekdays in early-mid December last year, we didn’t have Express Passes, but found that lots of rides for close to walk-ons.
So, if you’re not visiting during peak times, you may be just fine without it!

This really depends on when and why you’re visiting and how thoroughly you want to explore the park.
There is only one park at Universal Studios Hollywood (compared to three theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort).
