Visiting Disneyland is never cheap – but the Christmas season can bring lots of additional expenses (whether it’s specialty, expensive Christmas dining or tempting merchandise).

So following my Disneyland Christmas 2024 trip, I decided to write a budget-friendly guide to Christmas at Disneyland – so you can enjoy without spending more money than necessary.

Some of these don’t even require a Disneyland park ticket!

Let’s save money and celebrate the holidays!

This post is all about budget-friendly Disneyland Christmas things to do in 2025 and 2026.

Christmas Festivities Included with Regular Disneyland Tickets

1) “Believe…In Holiday Magic” Fireworks – Disneyland Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

During the festive season, the fireworks show at Disneyland Park is Christmassy! This 15 minute show:

  • Gorgeous, colorful fireworks
  • “Snow” on Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Castle projections & lights
  • Festive music.

This show is amazing, but beware of the crowds. Lots of people want a great view of this show, so for the best view, you’ll want to start waiting on 45+ minutes before showtime.

2) Disney Festival of the Holidays – Disney California Adventure Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

This festival celebrates primarily with Christmassy foods and live performances, including:

  • Small portions of quick service different foods – from cakes to mini entrées. You can purchase a Sip and Saver Pass if you plan on trying multiple items. This can give you a modest discount on 6 different dishes/drinks!

  • A Musical Christmas with Mariachi Alegría de Disneyland Miguel – a Coco themed musical show on select days during Festival of the Holidays.
  • Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party – an extravagant festival. The hosts are the Three Caballeros, and you’ll find dancers, drummers, Santa and Mrs. Claus puppets and Mickey and Minnie Mouse in their fiesta clothes – and more!
  • Holiday Toy Drummers – Christmas soldiers playing the drums in Paradise Gardens Park.

3) Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle -Disneyland Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

Stand on Main Street, and watch the Christmas lights gradually illuminate at Sleeping Beauty’s castle.

Enjoy the music and watch the “snow” fall.

4) World of Color – Season of Light – Disney California Adventure Park

Sadly, Disney has announced that this incredible 23-minute festive show will NOT be returning in 2025. Instead, you can watch World of Color Happiness! (for the entire 70th anniversary of Disneyland celebrations).

Hopefully, this Christmas water and projection show will return in 2026.

5) A Christmas Fantasy Parade – Disneyland Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

This epic 40-minute parade features Santa Claus and countless Disney characters (from Mickey and Minnie to princesses including Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella!).

In Disney World, you can watch the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade with a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket – but you don’t need a separate ticket here!

Where can you watch the A Christmas Fantasy Parade?

  • Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Near “it’s a small world” Holiday
  • Close to Matterhorn Bobsleds

Like any Christmas show at Disneyland, arriving early is your best bet for a good view (30+ minutes early is ideal).

6) Haunted Mansion Holiday – Disneyland Park (August 22nd, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

Location: New Orleans Square

Height Requirement: Any height

For the Halloween and Christmas seasons, Jack Skellington basically hijacks the classic ride, so you get wild decorations that fit both seasons whilst riding this classic attraction.

Even as someone who doesn’t care for The Nightmare Before Christmas, I was blown away by how amazing and detailed it is, for a holiday overlay!

Honestly, it’s a must-experience attraction—even if part of you misses the regular old mansion’s spooky feeling.

7) “it’s a small world” Holiday – Disneyland Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

Location: Fantasyland

Height Requirement: Any height

I know “it’s a small world” is very much a love it or hate it attraction. But it’s hard to hate the Christmassy version!

From the stunning lights inside and outside the attraction (more about this in #11) and the holiday tunes, along with the “It’s a Small World (After All)” song – it’s just incredible.

And bonus points: it tends to have a shorter wait time than Haunted Mansion Holiday.

8) Holiday Overlay on Some Cars Land Rides – Disney California Adventure Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

There are two rides in Cars Land that get decorated for the holidays:

  • Mater’s Jingle Jamboree (Height requirement: 32in or 81cm +) – with some old holiday tunes with original lyrics.
  • Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl (Height requirement: 32in or 81cm +) – spinning around to Christmassy songs!

9) Meet Santa! – Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – Disney California Adventure Park & Fantasyland Theatre – Disneyland Park

Want to see him whilst he’s making his list and checking it twice?

You can meet him in both parks in 2025 (dates and times TBC)!

10) “Disney Holiday Dance Party” at Tomorrowland Terrace – Disneyland Park

Want to listen to music and dance to Christmas music whilst Disney characters take to the stage dress up for the season?

This is ideal for kids, but any age can attend the dance party!

Potential dates for 2025 TBC.

11) “it’s a small world” Holiday Lighting – Disneyland Park (November 14th, 2025 – January 7th, 2026)

Each year, the classic facade of “it’s a small world” gets drenched in twinkling lights. Each night, watch the lights as they start to glow.

Even if you’re uninterested in “it’s a small world” Holiday, you may still enjoy this stunning little show.

Christmas Festivities That DON’T REQUIRE Disneyland Tickets for Higher Savings

So, you don’t want to spend hundreds (or even thousands) on Disneyland tickets.

No problem! There are other cheaper things to do at Disneyland Resort that don’t require overly expensive park tickets.

12) See the Christmas Decorations at Disneyland Hotels & Downtown Disney

It’s not just the Disneyland Parks that get in the festive spirit!

You’ll find decorations scattered around Disneyland Park and the on-site Disneyland Hotels.

I will say the best place outside the parks to visit during the holidays is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Similarly to the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, they have a life-sized gingerbread house and massive Christmas tree in the cozy hotel lobby.

But you could easily spend 2+ hours walking around Downtown Disney and the Disneyland Hotels – simply admiring the holiday decor!

13) Holiday Treats at Downtown Disney & Disney Hotels

If you’re visiting Downtown Disney and the Disneyland Hotels anyways, you might as well enjoy a treat or two on the journey 🙂

Each year, you’ll find different holiday treats and even meals at different dining locations at Downtown Disney and Disneyland Hotels.

Of course, this isn’t “free” but especially if you’re going to quick service locations, it can be reasonably inexpensive (by Disney standards).

14) Meet Santa (but not in the Disneyland Parks!)

You can meet Santa at all three Disneyland Hotels:

  • Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (the Great Hall)
  • Disneyland Hotel (main lobby)
  • Pixar Place Hotel (main lobby)

In 2024, you could meet Santa between November 28th – December 24th, 2024.

2025 dates are TBC.

Frequently Asked Questions about Disneyland Christmas

Is it worth going to Disneyland for Christmas?

My first visit to Disneyland was during the 2024 holiday season. I was lucky enough to have 4 nights at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel and 4.5 days in the parks in December. I loved it and wouldn’t change a thing, BUT if you’re considering going during the holiday season, you should consider these things:

  • It’s certainly not the cheapest time to visit (even if you’re not going during the week of Christmas/New Years/Thanksgiving).
  • Some attractions will change (i.e. due to holiday overlays).
  • Crowds and wait times can be extremely high (especially if you don’t have Lightning Lanes – the paid Fastness system at Disneyland).

What is the best day to go to Disneyland for Christmas?

The Christmas season is going to busy at Disneyland. I visited on both weekdays and a Saturday in mid December 2024, and it was always busy (with the evenings often feeling more crowded than the mornings/afternoons).

Your best bet is to go on weekdays between in November before Thanksgiving and December prior to the week of Christmas, or the last few days of the holiday season in January.

Just be aware that there’s never really a “quiet” time at Disneyland during the holidays.

How much are Disneyland tickets during Christmas?

These will vary depending on when you’re visiting Disneyland during the holidays. Check the Disneyland website, as well as authorized Disneyland ticket sellers to find the best deals (I found Undercover Tourist to be the cheapest option when I was buying tickets last year. Check a few sites to compare before purchasing).

Will there be a Disneyland Christmas Party 2025?

Disney has not announced a special-ticketed Christmas party event (like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom or Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios) at Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park in 2025.
