- Christmas Meals – For example, Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates the Winter Holidays sees a shake up of the menus and the characters are in festive outfits! These meals often take place for the whole of/most of the Christmas season at Disneyland.
- Chip & Dale’s Ornament Trail – This was a new scavenger hunt at Downtown Disney in 2024. It cost $9.99 to participate and buy a map, but you could get an ornament if you finish it! We are waiting for Disney to announce if it’s returning in 2025.
Frequently Asked Questions About Disneyland Christmas Dates
Do I need a special ticket for Christmas events?
No extra ticket is needed for most Christmas offerings. Your regular park admission covers holiday parades, decorations, and shows.
Certain after-hours parties might require separate tickets, but these are not common at Disneyland during Christmas.
Unlike Disney World, there is no routine Disneyland Christmas Party.
Should I buy tickets in advance for the Christmas season?
It’s generally recommended to buy tickets and reserve park date s as early as you can.
Popular days can sell out weeks ahead, especially weekends and holidays.
Is Disneyland busier during Christmas dates?
Yes, expect large crowds, especially during Thanksgiving week, Christmas week, and New Year’s week. Early December weekdays tend to be less packed.
How can you save money when staying at the Disneyland on-site hotels during the holidays?
If you want to stay on-site at Disneyland during the holidays without wrecking your budget, renting DVC points through a company like David’s Vacation Club Rentals can be perfect.
You can make a request or book a confirmed reservation and stay in a Deluxe Studio or Villa at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel or Villas at Disneyland Hotel.
The savings can be quite significant compared to hotel rates directly with Disney, so it’s worth a look!
When budgeting, be aware that tax is included in the rental price for a stay at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. However, for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, an extra nightly transient tax is charged that you pay at checkout, so you need to factor that into your math.
Also be aware that the Grand Californian villas have lower availability, especially around Christmas and New Year’s, so if you want that location, you need to put in a request with David’s as early as possible (ideally at 11 months in advance) and be ready with a backup plan.
Is there a best time to visit Disneyland for Christmas events?
Try mid-November or early December on weekdays. You’ll get the full holiday experience with lighter crowds and more comfortable weather.
What are the park hours during the Christmas season?
Disneyland often opens earlier and closes later during Christmas, but hours do vary by day. Check the official calendar for updated schedules.
Do both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure celebrate Christmas?
Yes, both parks feature decorations, festive foods, and special entertainment. Each park has unique touches and events, as discussed earlier in this post.
Are all Disneyland attractions open during Christmas?
Most rides and attractions stay open. Some may close for holiday overlays or brief maintenance, but major rides are usually available. Make sure to check the Disneyland app to see what is open (and closed) during your visit!
