DISNEYLAND PARIS ROLLER COASTER RIDES

So, if you’re looking for more thrilling attractions – or want to avoid extreme roller coasters – here is a helpful list.

This post is all about 5 intense Disneyland Paris roller coaster rides that are more extreme than you may think.

Disneyland Paris Roller Coaster Rides

Does Disneyland Paris have roller coasters?

Yes, Disneyland Paris roller coasters DO exist.

In fact, there are plenty of them.

Our guide on Disneyland Paris thrill rides covers them all!

Does Disneyland Paris have rides that are actually thrilling?

Yes. Sure, Disneyland Paris has plenty of slow rides appropriate for guests of all ages.

But there are a lot of thrilling rides suitable for older kids and adults visiting Disneyland Paris.

(There are even THREE roller coasters that go upside down: Star Wars HyperSpace Mountain, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, and Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, formerly known as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

1) Big Thunder Mountain

Height Restriction: 1.02m +

Highlights: Fast roller coaster with small drops

Location: Frontierland, Disneyland Park

how many roller coasters are at disneyland paris

Big Thunder Mountain promises three things: thrills, excitement, and adventure.

This exhilarating roller coaster takes riders on a wild ride through an abandoned mine, where twists, turns, and unexpected surprises await at every corner.

As you board your mine train and begin your journey, you’ll quickly find yourself hurtling through darkened tunnels, careening around sharp bends, and speeding down steep drops.

With its high speeds, sudden drops, and unexpected twists, this roller coaster is AWESOME from start to finish.

If you have only ever been on Big Thunder Mountain in Disney World know that Disneyland Paris’ version is very different.

Disney World’s version is slower and tamer – and simply less fun for thrill seekers.

Disneyland in California’s is certainly better than Walt Disney World’s (though this may change when the WDW Big Thunder Mountain re-opens in 2026).

That said, it’s generally accepted that Disneyland Paris has the all time best version of this ride!

But this is the best roller coaster ride Disneyland Paris has that is still suitable for a lot of kids.

2) RC Racer

Height Restriction: 1.20m

Highlights: Outside ride, 25m tall half-pipe roller coaster

Location: Toy Story Playland, Worlds of Pixar, Walt Disney Studios (/Disney Adventure World)

does disneyland paris have roller coasters

Just because this ride is located in Toy Story Playland, it doesn’t mean it’s tame!

This high-speed roller coaster sends riders soaring through the air in a larger-than-life replica of Andy’s RC Car.

This car RACES back and forth on the track – and is known for causing sickness (so keep that in mind!).

RC Racer is arguably the least interesting Disneyland Paris roller coaster theming-wise. Other than the ride vehicle being the RC Car from Toy Story, there’s not a whole lot going on story-telling-wise.

3) Star Wars HyperSpace Mountain

Height Restriction: 1.02m +

Highlights: Dark ride with large drops

Location: Production Courtyard, Walt Disney Studios

Embark on an exhilarating journey to another galaxy with Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain.

As the name suggests, this roller coaster fuses Space Mountain with Star Wars.

But be aware that Disneyland Paris’ version of Space Mountain is unlike ANY other version of this ride at other Disney Parks. This is mainly because Disneyland Paris’ Star Wars HyperSpace Mountain is the only one to go upside down!

Furthermore, this arguably makes it the “scariest” and biggest roller coaster in Disneyland Paris (though that title could also easily be awarded to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror).

4) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

Height Restriction: 1.40m +

Highlights: Outdoor roller coaster with loops

Location: Adventureland, Disneyland Park

Prepare for an exhilarating journey into the unknown as you brave Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, one of Disneyland Paris’s most pulse-pounding attractions!

As one of the park’s three roller coasters featuring loops, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril stands out for its unique outdoor setting.

While this may detract slightly from the immersive theming compared to indoor rides, the jungle chase storyline fits incredibly well in Adventureland.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril truly is one of the best Disneyland Park roller coasters for extreme thrillseekers!

If you’re expecting this Indiana Jones to be similar to Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland (which is also replacing Dinosaur at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom), it is NOTHING like that.

5) Crush’s Coaster

Height Restriction: 1.07m +

Highlights: Dark roller coaster with small drops and spinning

Location: Worlds of Pixar, Walt Disney Studios (/Disney Adventure World)

disneyland park roller coasters

Don’t let the cute Finding Nemo theming fool you … This indoor ride can be pretty scary!

Crush’s Coaster offers an immersive experience that transports you beneath the waves to the vibrant underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef. Just to be clear this is NOT a water ride, and IS a roller coaster in the dark.

Once aboard your turtle shell-themed coaster car, you’ll be launched into the swirling currents of the ocean, twisting and turning through a series of thrilling dips, drops, and tight turns.

If you are prone to dizziness, be aware that your ride vehicle will spin during the ride (though it isn’t constant throughout the entire ride).

It’s important to note that this ride is NOTHING like The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot at Disney World. That ride is slow and tame – practically the opposite of Crush’s Coaster.

Speaking from personal experience, I was petrified of this ride as a little kid (my six-year-old self was scarred for a few years!).

For guests who aren’t huge fans of roller coasters, this is definitely not one I recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions Related to Disneyland Paris Roller Coaster Rides

What are the extreme rides at Disneyland Paris?

I would argue that there aren’t “extreme” rides at Disneyland Paris. There are certainly roller coasters, but none of them are as “big” as some you can find at Universal parks (namely Jurassic World: VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando).

How intense is Hyperspace Mountain Paris?

Hyperspace Mountain has inversions and gets up to 44mph. So yes, it’s a true coaster, but it isn’t the most TERRIFYING coaster in the world.

Is there a Rock n Roller Coaster in Disneyland Paris?

No, there isn’t a Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster in Disneyland Paris anymore, at least not the Aerosmith version people remember.

The original

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster in Walt Disney Studios Park opened in 2002, and closed in 2019, when it received a full Marvel makeover.

The track stayed, but the whole story, music, and theming were stripped out and rebuilt as Avengers Assemble: Flight Force at Marvel Avengers Campus.

So if you’re hoping for blaring Aerosmith, backstage concert chaos, and that very late‑90s / early 2000s feeling, you’re out of luck.

What you get now is a dark coaster with Iron Man and Captain Marvel, and a very different feel.

What rides are closed at Disneyland Paris?

Disneyland Paris will often have at least one ride closed for refurbishment. Make sure to check the Disneyland Paris website or app, so you’re prepared for your visit.

Is Buzz Lightyear closed at Disneyland Paris?

Buzz Lightyear is closed at the time of updating this post (in November 2025), but don’t worry; it’s only temporary. This ride is expected to re-open by late 2025.
