What is Epic Universe?

Epic Universe is Universal Studios Orlando’s third theme park. As it only opened this year, it is the newest park in the premium theme park market in Orlando (by over 25 years), so it’s getting a lot of attention.

Epic Universe has five lands. If you’re wondering ‘what are the 5 worlds in Epic Universe?’, here they are:

Celestial Park – “inspired by astronomical and mythological elements”
Dark Universe – inspired by Universal’s monsters, i.e. Frankenstein’s monster.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic (also with Wizarding Paris, and inspiration from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them)

Plenty of visitors have enjoyed these lands (and the attractions within them) during the spring and summer.

But what about early this winter, during the holidays?

Does Universal Studios do anything for Christmas?

Although they don’t go as crazy as Disney World, Universal definitely does celebrate Christmas at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure.

Here are some of the highlights we saw in 2024:

Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s (which will be taking place between November 21st – December 31st, 2025)

EPIC UNIVERSE CHRISTMAS ornament — This parade is cute but is not NEARLY as amazing as the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade (at Magic Kingdom, Disney World – during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Harry Potter Wizarding Christmas festivities – mainly decorations and The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle (AKA Harry Potter Christmas light show with projections at Islands of Adventure)
How The Grinch Stole Christmas Universal Studios – including The Grinch’s Who-liday Spectacular show, a meet-and-greet with The Grinch and Christmas decorations (returning November 21st – December 31st)

Will Epic Universe Do Anything for Christmas?

Right now, Universal has made limited announcements about Epic Universe at Christmas.

So far, all we really know is that there WILL be decorations at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic and Celestial Park.

But here’s what we do know: the park will be open during the holiday season, so we can expect that they will do something – even if that just means some moderately impressive Epic Universe Christmas decorations.

Side note: Epic Universe will be open on Christmas Day (along with Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure).

Plus, the North Star Wintry Wonders shop is already up and running, filled with winter-themed merch that can make you feel festive even before Thanksgiving rolls around.

If you are a Universal Annual Passholder, makes sure to check AP rates, which can save you hundreds (or even thousands) on your stay! Some resorts may also have Christmas decorations (not as impressive as Disney World Resorts, but better than none at all!).

If staying on-site, stay as closeby as possible – This can save your travel time and maximize your time at the parks.

Universal has not announced that there will be an Epic Universe Christmas party in 2025.

Unlike Disney World (with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights), Universal doesn’t usually hold Christmas parties.
