How to Use Mobile Ordering at Disney World
1. How does Mobile Ordering work at Disney World?
- Download the My Disney Experience App: First things first, you’ll need the Disney World mobile app on your phone. It’s free and available on both iOS and Android. You don’t need a separate Disney World mobile ordering app – just the one My Disney Experience app!
- Browse and Select Your Eatery: Once the app is set up, you can browse the Disney World restaurants with Mobile Ordering (Quick Service and Table Service restaurants and bars – filtering by parks/resorts).
- Choose & Customize Your Order: You can choose your selection right in the app before adding it to your cart.
- Select a Pickup Time: Choose a time that suits your schedule. You can plan ahead or be spontaneous (sometimes you can collect your order as soon as you place it!).
- Make Payment: Pay through the Disney World mobile app using your card or even Disney dining plans if eligible.
- Click “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” and Collect Your Orer: Once you get the notification that your order is ready, simply head to the restaurant’s designated pickup window/counter/area. Your food will be waiting for you!

Benefits of Disney World Mobile Ordering
So, why should you use Disney World Mobile Ordering? Here are some great reasons:
1) You Can Save Time on a Busy Disney Day
Mobile ordering can actually save a ton of time on a busy Disney Parks day.
Order breakfast while you are still in your room, lunch while you are in line for a headliner, and a snack before a parade starts.
Or, if there are time slots available, order approximately when you want your food, and just go up to collect it.
That way you skip the standby food lines, avoid standing in a hot, noisy crowd, and get straight to enjoying your meal.
You also keep more of your day free for rides, shows, or wandering through the resorts.
Doesn’t that sound more fun and productive?!

2) Added Convenience on a Potentially Chaotic Day
Rather than wandering around looking for a menu board, you already have every menu in your hand.
(This is especially helpful if you’re visiting with a larger group, with different food preferences).
You can scroll, compare, and pay in a few taps, then get back to actually enjoying the park.
3) Avoid Disney Dining Decision Fatigue
With predefined options and some customization available, it’s easier to make choices without staring at a menu board.
When there are literally HUNDREDS of bars, quick and table service restaurants across Walt Disney World, it can get overwhelming.
Mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app can reduce this, and make the process less overwhelming!
4) You can Mobile Order & Even Eat in Your Hotel Room (if you’re staying on-site)
If you’re staying on-site, Mobile Order at your resort is awesome, especially at the end of a long park day when you’re exhausted.
You can pull up the app on the bus, tap in your dinner, and skip the whole “stand in line behind ten people who can’t decide on a burger” scene (most of us have experienced this at least once at Disney!).
After a long day in the parks, Mobile Ordering food at your resort can be great, because your food is ready when you are. Not the other way around.
The best part is that you don’t even have to eat in the food court if you don’t want to.
You can collect your order, walk it back to your room, and watch Mickey cartoons whilst you enjoy your meal or snack.
Does it get much better than that?!

Downsides of Mobile Ordering at Walt Disney World
There are some great perks to ordering your food on the My Disney Experience app. But, don’t overlook some of these downsides:
1) It Can be Difficult to Customize Your Order
Do you ever want to switch a side or to drop an ingredient from your food at Disney World?
Sometimes the app just won’t allow this.
It’s frustrating when you want something specific and can’t get it the way you’d like. For example, the app might not let you substitute fries with fruit or vegetables at certain places, even if you know they have these alternatives.
So, you end up stuck with choices that aren’t quite right for you.
It may even mean you have to wait in line and order your food the “old-fashioned way”, which kind of defeats the object of the Disney World Mobile Ordering system.

2) Technical Glitches on the My Disney Experience App
If there’s a problem with the My Disney Experience app, you may have an issue placing an order at all. Here are some example of issues that may lead this:
- App Crashes: Imagine the app closing just as you’re about to place your order.
- Slow Loading Times: This is especially annoying if you’re in a rush.
- Difficulties with Updates: Sometimes, an update might cause more problems than it fixes.
On the bright side, these issues can be rare, so this shouldn’t be a common issue.
But if you do experience this, you may have to get in line and order your food as normal.
3) Limited Availability for Mobile Ordering at Disney World
You might think every restaurant at Disney World offers mobile ordering all the time, but that’s not always the case.
Some places have specific hours, and others might not support it at all. This can be confusing and disappointing, especially if you’re counting on quick access to food.
Keep in mind that during peak times, like lunch and dinner, mobile ordering might be unavailable or limited.

4) You Can’t Necessarily Mobile Order ANYTHING From a Dining Location at Disney
Here’s the sneaky part that Disney does not spell out: you cannot always mobile order the full menu at a dining location.
The My Disney Experience app often shows a trimmed down list, so some snacks, seasonal items, or “secret” favorites only appear if you walk up and order in person.
You might think a dining location has a weak or boring menu, when in reality the good stuff is hiding behind the counter.
It also makes planning tricky, because you can scroll the app ahead of time, pick a spot, and only later realize you missed something better that never showed up on the app at all.
If you care about a certain dessert, side, or drink, do not trust the app alone. Check the physical menu board when you arrive, or ask a Cast Member what is available that is not listed on mobile order.
You might find that the thing you “couldn’t” get was sitting there the whole time, just not soon the My Disney Experience app.
5) Mobile Ordering May Not Be Ideal If You Have Allergies & Need to Make Adjustments or Speak to the Chef
Mobile ordering is far from ideal if you have food allergies or need custom changes.
The app looks convenient, but it strips out that face to face talk with a human who knows the kitchen.
You can tap a few allergy notes, sure, but that is not the same as explaining, “I have a severe peanut allergy, I cannot have cross-contact at all,” to a chef who can answer back.
Although it is disappointing, safety is key when it comes to food allergies, and the app just can’t offer this in the same way an actual conversation can.
How to Make Disney World Mobile Ordering Work for You
Navigating the magical experience of Disney World can be a bit tricky, especially when it comes to meal times.
With so many attractions and shows to see, optimizing your schedule is key.
The Disney World Mobile Ordering system offers a way to simplify dining, but to truly make it work for you, some planning and strategy are necessary.
Let’s explore a few ways to make the most out of this system:
Planning Ahead
It’s all about timing! Choosing when and where to eat can make or break your experience. Here’s how you can plan ahead:
- Check park schedules: Start by reviewing the park’s schedule and choosing your meal times wisely. Align your eating times during quieter hours when attractions may have longer lines.
- Select restaurants early: Use the My Disney Experience app to select restaurants ahead of time. Look for spots near your planned attractions to save time.
- Set reminders: Plan meal times and set reminders on your phone to pre-order. This way, you won’t get caught up in the excitement and forget.
- Make sure you don’t have to collect food when you have a Lightning Lane pass booked! You don’t want to miss the attraction or the food!
By doing a bit of pre-planning, you can avoid the hangry moods that could come from poor meal timing.
Understanding Menu Options
Before you go to Disney World, familiarize yourself with what’s on the menus:
- Browse menus on the app: Take a few minutes to explore different restaurant menus on the app. This helps in quickly deciding and avoiding those last-minute worries.
- List your favorites: Once you know what’s available, make a note of your top picks. This will streamline your choices when it’s time to order.
Having a game plan prevents indecisiveness and saves precious park time. After all, who wants to spend their vacation stressing over what to eat?
Using Mobile Ordering for Special Dietary Needs
If you have special dietary requirements, the Disney World Mobile Ordering system may not meet your needs:
- Explore dietary options: Many restaurants provide information about food allergies and special dietary needs. Check these in advance to ensure you have plenty of choices. You may need to check this in person (though some information should be available online or on the app – though the helpfulness of this may vary depending on your dietary requirements). As mentioned before, Mobile Ordering is not typically great if you have food allergies. It may be fine if you want a plant-based option, but not if you’re trying to avoid certain foods, because you are allergic.
- Speak to a chef: If you’re not sure, don’t hesitate to ask to speak with a chef. They can often provide more insight into how dishes are prepared. Generally, if you have any type of food allergy, I’d recommend this.
Frequently Asked Questions Related to Disney World Mobile Ordering
Is there a Disney World app?
Yes, My Disney Experience is the app you can use for Mobile Ordering at Disney World, as well as booking Lightning Lanes, checking wait times, park hours and more!
Do you have to use Mobile Ordering at Disney World?
No, it is optional. However, despite its flaws, it can be helpful.
I recommend trying it at least once when you’re at Disney World. If you’re visiting for more than one day, maybe try it on your first day, so you know if it’s worth using for the rest of your visit.
What happens if you miss your Disney Mobile Order window?
Worried about a Disney Mobile Order missed window issue?
Worst case scenario: Disney charges you and you get your food.
However, if you only slightly miss it, and you go and talk to a cast member, they may bring you your food anyway. But this is definitely not guaranteed.
How to pay for a Disney Mobile Order?
You can pay with any card that is saved on your My Disney Experience app.
Please be aware that you cannot pay with cash if you are Mobile Ordering. But you can pay with a Disney Gift Card. Just be aware that you can only use one gift card per transaction, and it cannot be saved as a future payment method on the My Disney Experience app.
Which Disney Springs dining location offers Mobile Food and Beverage ordering?
Although there are plenty of dining locations at Disney Springs, there are hardly any Disney Mobile Ordering locations here (usually 5 or less locations).
As of the time of last updating this post (in November 2025), these were the locations you could mobile order from at Disney Springs:
- Amorette’s Patisserie
- B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co.
- D-Luxe Burger
- Goofy’s Candy Company
So if you want to eat at another popular Disney Springs location, like The Polite Pig or Chicken Guy, sadly you’ll just have to wait in line.
You can find the most up-to-date locations here.
Does Mobile Order work with Disney Dining Plan?
Yes, at participating Disney Mobile Ordering locations.
As long as you have a valid Dining Plan with Quick Service or Snack credits available (depending on what you want to order), you should be able to Mobile Order.
How does Mobile Checkout Work at Disney?
Mobile Checkout at Disney World is basically self checkout on your phone.
You open the My Disney Experience app, choose “Merchandise Checkout,” pick the store you are in, then use your phone’s camera to scan the barcodes on what you want.
The app keeps a running total, applies your Annual Pass or DVC discount if you have one, and lets you pay with a card, Apple Pay, or a Disney gift card.
Then walk to the Mobile Checkout exit, where a Cast Member scans your digital receipt QR code and checks your items, before wrapping them if needed and putting them in a bag.
After that, you are done, no standing in the full register line!
Sadly, most Disney shops don’t offer this service, though it is likely to become more common as we get further into the 2020s.
As of November 2025 (the most recent update to this post), here were the Disney World stores which offered mobile checkout:
- Emporium – Magic Kingdom Park
- Star Traders – Magic Kingdom Park
- Tomorrowland – Magic Kingdom Park
- Creations Shop – Epcot
- Treasures of Xandar – Epcot
- Mickey’s of Hollywood – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Special Event Merchandise at Disney Jollywood Nights – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Discovery Trading Company & Riverside Depot – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
- Island Mercantile – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
- World of Disney – Disney Springs
You can check the My Disney Experience app to check the most up-to-date list of shops offering mobile checkout.
