Does Disney World celebrate Halloween?

First things first, does Disney World do anything for Halloween?

Absolutely!

Whilst the celebrations aren’t as widespread or over-the-top as Christmas, Halloween is definitely celebrated big at Disney World!

The most common celebration is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (a special-ticketed event at Magic Kingdom taking place on select nights August 15th, 2025 – October 31st, 2025).

But if you’re not going to the Disney World Halloween party, don’t worry.

Depending on your Disney World tickets, you’ll be able to see these decorations anyway (more on this later).

When does Disney World decorate Halloween?

What date is Disney World decorated for Halloween?

This can vary from year to year, but the Halloween decorations will be up by mid-August.

How do we know that?

Because Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts on August 15th, 2025, and the decorations are always up before the first party of the season.

How long does Disney World keep Halloween decorations up?

When does Disney World take down Halloween decorations?

Typically, Halloween decorations are taken down on November 1st, so Walt Disney World Resort can officially transition into the Christmas season.

Magic Kingdom: The Epicenter of Disney World Halloween Decorations

Is Magic Kingdom decorated for Fall?

I couldn’t write this post without mentioning the Disney World Magic Kingdom Halloween decorations.

Magic Kingdom is the only park with lots of Halloween decorations during Autumn.

The decor starts outside the entrance of Magic Kingdom.

You’ll most decorations on Main Street, U.S.A. with:

  • Mickey pumpkins on streetlights (make sure to visit Magic Kingdom at night and you can see them glowing!)
  • Pumpkin statues and scarecrows!

  • Autumn bunting

The decorations are similar year to year, but they are always perfect to get into the Autumn spirit.

Where else should you go at Magic Kingdom during the Halloween season?

Haunted Mansion is the perfect ride during this season.

Although it doesn’t get a Festive makeover like Haunted Mansion at Disneyland (which becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday), there’s nothing more fitting than a slightly spooky ride at Halloween.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Magic Kingdom’s signature event, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, is when Disney World Halloween decorations get the after-dark treatment.

The decorations glow, projections light up the castle, and special party-only props (and even characters) can be found.

There’s even Halloween overlays on certain rides and shows. In 2025, this will include:

  • Space Mountain 🚀 but in COMPLETE darkness, with Halloween-inspired music 🎵
  • Mad Tea Party ☕️ will have exclusive lighting effects

  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor will change to a Halloween show 👻

What makes this event special?

    • Trick-or-treat trails (that’s right: unlimited candy 🍬🍫 included with the cost of admission 🎟️ – which, granted, is $119 – $229 + tax per person, in 2025 – so it’s not cheap to get this perk!).
    • An exclusive Halloween parade (Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade) and rare characters in unique costumes
    • Exclusive shows – from fireworks to stage shows.

Do Other Parks Have Disney World Halloween Decorations?

You’ll see a lot of talk online about Magic Kingdom’s Halloween takeover, but what about the other Disney World parks?

EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom don’t have their own colossal Halloween displays, unfortunately.

Who knows? Maybe that will change in the future. But if we’re basing this on what’s happened previously, Disney World’s other three parks won’t be getting Halloween decorations this year.

Do the Disney Resorts decorate for Halloween?

Unlike at Christmas, the Disney World on-site resorts don’t usually decorate for Halloween.

There is, however, one resort that does take its Halloween celebrations seriously!

Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground: The Heavyweight Champion

Fort Wilderness isn’t just good for Halloween—it’s legendary.

This is the only place where guests can enjoy decorations and wild celebrations (by Disney standards!).

RVs, golf carts, and cabins are decked out in decorations and they even have their own parade.

How to Make the Most of Disney World Halloween Decorations During Your Visit

You don’t go all the way to Disney World to squint at decorations from the back of a crowd, right?

Here’s how I maximize every autumn detail and avoid the common mistakes that can leave others feeling rushed or underwhelmed.

Timing: Catch the Decorations at Their Best

It seems obvious, but seeing the right decorations at the right time can make or break your Halloween park day. Not all hours—and not all days—are created equal! Here’s what’s worked for me:

  • Early morning for Main Street, U.S.A. The crowds are thinner, and you’re not fighting through swarms of people for that Mickey pumpkin selfie. Consider setting that alarm, grabbing a coffee, and walking right down the middle of Main Street before peak rush.
  • Golden hour in the parks. Right around sunset, you can enjoy the decorations starting to glow before it’s officially nighttime.
  • After dark for atmosphere. Some displays don’t hit their stride until the sun sets—look for lit-up pumpkins!

And—avoid weekends and holiday weeks if you can. Not only are more locals and tourists in the parks, but photo ops can turn into a waiting game.

Photo Tips for Halloween Decor

Not all Disney photos are created equal, so I like to hunt for the scenes most people overlook. Want proof you soaked up every drop of Disney World Halloween decorations? Snap these shots:

  • Unique pumpkin carvings
  • Close-ups of smaller, themed displays around the parks (look for custom figurines in shop windows).
  • PhotoPass: If you have PhotoPass, you can get some incredible Halloween photos with decorations or backgrounds you won’t want to miss!
